Pierce College Puyallup was briefly on lockdown Thursday morning, according to an automated alert system, following a report that a man was possibly armed at a nearby park.
“We had a report of a possible man with a gun in Bradley Lake,” Puyallup Police Department spokesperson Capt. Kevin Gill said.
Gill said there had been some sort of confrontation between two Bradley Lake park-goers, reported between 8:30 and 9 a.m., but police were unable to find the person allegedly armed or substantiate that he was armed. Police advised the college of the report because the college’s access road is in proximity to the park, he said.

An automated alert was sent at 9:45 a.m. to notify that Pierce College Puyallup was locked down due to an active police incident near the campus and instructed people to shelter in place. The lockdown was lifted at 10 a.m., according to a follow-up alert.
College representatives didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment.
