An Elkhart man was injured in a crash near Southwest Wednesday afternoon.
According to Elkhart County deputies, at 4:13 p.m., Hannah Shultz, 18, of Goshen, was traveling west on C.R. 40 approaching C.R. 40 in a 2013 Maroon Ford Escape at the same time that Dennys Pereira Villazana, 32, was traveling south on C.R. 11 approaching C.R. 40 in a 2012 Beige Toyota Corolla. Police said Pereira Villazana disregarded the stop sign and entered the intersection and the vehicles collided.
Pereira Villazana was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for back pain.
ARRESTS
• A 29-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Goshen police at 8:33 p.m. Wednesday on charges of being a habitual traffic violator, possession of meth and paraphernalia after he was stopped for multiple equipment violations near Elkhart Road and Chicago Avenue.
• A 48-year-old man was arrested and jailed by Elkhart County deputies at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday on charges of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, theft and criminal mischief after police received a report of a man entering into vehicles in the 58000 block of C.R. 105.
FRAUD
• An employee at DT Products, 2108 Eisenhower Drive North, Goshen, reported a fraud over $52,000.
• A 27-year-old woman reported to Goshen police at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday that her identity was stolen by someone who purchased a phone service using her identity.
• A 35-year-old man reported to Goshen police at 12:23 p.m. Wednesday tax fraud in 2021.
THEFT
• A 50-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies that between 1 and 6 p.m. April 9 someone stole items from the 56000 block of Best Avenue.
• A 35-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies at 4:08 p.m. Wednesday someone stole the license plate off his black 2017 Ford F-150 at 8:29 p.m. April 17 from the 28000 block of Old U.S. 30 in Elkhart.
VANDALISM
A 35-year-old man reported to Elkhart County deputies at 3:13 p.m. Tuesday someone vandalized a home in the 58000 block of C.R. 115 in Goshen.
