Cervantes, 17th Avenue intersection closed for shooting investigation


The intersection of 17th Avenue and Cervantes Street is closed as Pensacola Police investigate a shooting that occured in the 1700 block of Cervantes Street.

The PPD was notified by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at 7:52 a.m. Sunday that one of their deputies had been flagged down by the driver of a vehicle who had a shooting victim in their car. The victim was then transported to the hospital.

Pensacola Police took over the investigation once it was determined the shooting happened in Pensacola jurisdiction. Police say no other information is available at this time.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area while the investigation is underway.
