Brushed your teeth with Tom’s toothpaste over the past six years? If so, you may be entitled to a cash payout.
According to a class action settlement website, people who purchased one or more Tom’s of Maine toothpaste products in the United States between Nov. 21, 2020, and March 6, 2026, can qualify for a portion of a class-action settlement.
The settlement stems from a lawsuit filed in December 2025 by consumers against Tom’s of Maine, a subsidiary of Colgate-Palmolive Company, and Colgate. The lawsuit accused the company of “deceptive and misleading business practices with respect to the manufacturing, marketing, and sale of certain Tom’s toothpaste products,” according to the website.
The company has denied any wrongdoing, per the website, but is agreeing to the settlement to avoid litigation costs.

How to claim part of the Tom’s toothpaste settlement
Anyone wishing to claim part of the settlement has until July 6 to do so.
To file a claim, participants must fill out the claim form on the settlement website.
The form can be submitted online or downloaded and mailed to the class administrator. It’s also possible to receive a paper copy of the form by contacting the class administrator.
The class administrator can be contacted by telephone at 1-877-315-6779, by email at info@toothpastesettlement.com, or by U.S. Mail at the following address: Rabinowitz et al. v. Colgate-Palmolive Company et al. Class Administrator P.O. Box 2897 Portland, Oregon 97208-2897.
When will the settlement payment arrive?
A court has scheduled a final approval hearing for the settlement on Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. local time. The hearing will determine whether the court will approve the settlement, whether there are any objections to the settlement, and whether there are requests for service awards (compensation) for the named plaintiffs who brought lawsuits against the company.
Settlement payments will be distributed if the court grants final approval of the settlement and after any appeals are resolved. It’s unclear how much of the settlement participants may expect to receive.
A class member who submits an approved claim without proof of purchase may receive the total of the average manufacturer’s suggested retail price for up to one class product claimed per household. Tom’s toothpaste products vary in price from $3.99 to about $15.99, according to the company’s website.
Class members with proof of purchase may receive a full refund for the Tom’s products. Refunds are capped at three class products per claim.
If the total value of approved claims exceeds the funds available for distribution, class members will receive payments proportionally reduced as necessary, according to the settlement website.

How to opt out of the Tom’s settlement
Anyone wishing to opt out of the settlement and retain the ability to sue the company independently can do so by requesting exclusion by July 6.
To be excluded, people can submit a request for exclusion to the class administrator. The form must be postmarked no later than the opt-out deadline.
