Authorities are investigating a shooting at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Union County Saturday night, a spokeswoman for the Union County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed.
It’s unclear how many people have been shot or the extent of their injuries.
“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” said the spokeswoman, Lauren Farinas. “More information will be released as it becomes available.”
The Chick-fil-A is located at 2319 US-22 in Union.
Reports from the scene indicted a large police presence at the restaurant lingering late into the night.
Family members of employees still inside the restaurant were gathered outside after 11 p.m., WABC-NY reported from the scene. One man waiting told a reporter his son, an employee, said multiple masked suspects entered the eatery and that several of his co-workers were injured in the shooting, WABC reported.
Union Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Spokespeople for the township and county referred inquiries to the prosecutor’s office.
A dispatcher for the Union Police Department declined to comment on the investigation.
A spokeswoman for the restaurant chain’s corporate office declined to comment, citing an ongoing investigation.
