Bruce Springsteen performed “Streets of Minneapolis” at the flagship No Kings rally in St. Paul on Saturday, telling a crowd of at least 50,000 that “federal troops brought death and terror to the streets of Minneapolis. They picked the wrong city.” Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz also addressed the crowd.
Tens of thousands more marched through Times Square in New York; crossed Memorial Bridge in Washington, D.C.; and filled streets in cities across the country and overseas. In Dallas, clashes erupted between No Kings marchers and counter-protesters that included pardoned Jan. 6 figures.
It’s the third round of “No Kings” protests against the Trump administration. Organizers say it will be the biggest day of protest the country has ever seen. (Here’s what you need to know about the “No Kings” movement.)
Bruce Springsteen, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Jane Fonda and Joan Baez are performing and speaking at the Minneapolis event. Minnesota has been at the center of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown after two American citizens were fatally shot by ICE agents there in January.
President Trump and Vice President JD Vance have yet to comment on today’s protests. They’ve met previous “No Kings” rallies with ridicule. Last fall, both posted AI-generated memes depicting Trump wearing a crown. Trump called October’s protests a “joke” and the participants “whacked out.”
Asked about Saturday’s events, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told CNN Thursday: “The only people who care about these Trump Derangement Therapy Sessions are the reporters who are paid to cover them.”
The first two rounds brought out an estimated 5 million to 7 million people. Organizers expect Saturday to surpass both.
