A person has been shot outside Porterdale in Newton County, the Department of Public Safety said Friday afternoon.
A Georgia State Trooper was involved but was not shot. The incident happened off of Oak Landing Drive near Georgia 162.
This is a developing story. Watch for more on Channel 2 Action News starting at 4:00 p.m.
The person was taken for medical treatment via air from a landing location near Liberty Middle school.

Newton County Sheriff’s Office said police units are currently at Liberty Middle School assisting with the medical evacuation of the wounded person.
Authorities said to please avoid the area.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
