Beloved NKY LGBTQ+ leader Katie Meyer dies at 41

A beloved Cincinnati-area LGBTQ+ leader has passed away, officials said.

Katie Meyer, 41, was a lifelong Covington advocate and co-chair of Northern Kentucky Pride Center. She died on April 16, according to Connley Brothers Funeral Home.

Meyer had a career of public service, according to the organizations mourning her loss.

“Whether it was leading the charge to create the NKY Pride Awards, coordinating our annual PrideFest and parade, or connecting members of our community Katie always showed up when it mattered most. Always,”said the NKY Pride Center in a Facebook post,

Meyer led a Covington revitalization nonprofit for nine years, according to the city. Under her leadership, the nonprofit received national praise for its work.

“The impact of her work reached far beyond a single organization,” read a statement by Cincinnati Pride.

In a Facebook post, the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton said Meyer was a passionate advocate who stood up beside children and challenged systems on their behalf. She served as a board member at the time of her passing, the organization said.

Her funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized.
